Hello!
I’m Michelle. Nice to meet you!
I’m an Educational Psychologist and a mom, passionate about helping children, adolescents, and families overcome learning barriers and build emotional resilience. My practice integrates creative methods, play, and evidence-based strategies to help each child reach their full potential.
I take a warm, collaborative approach grounded in play-based and strength-focused methodologies. My goal is to create a safe, engaging space where children feel understood and supported, and where parents receive clear, practical guidance tailored to their child’s needs.
I offer psycho-educational assessments for school readiness, learning support planning, and subject or career guidance. Each assessment includes detailed feedback and individualised recommendations to assist both home and school environments in supporting the child effectively.
I believe in inclusive education and value strong collaboration with families and schools to support children across emotional, cognitive, and academic dimensions. My work is grounded in the belief that every child has the capacity to thrive when given the right support.

Educational Psychology is a recognised category within professional psychology, focusing on the emotional, cognitive, academic, behavioural, and social development of children and young people. According to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA, 2017), educational psychologists support learners within the systems they function in — including families, schools, peer groups, and communities — by addressing a wide range of challenges that may impact learning and overall well-being.
Educational psychologists are trained to assess, diagnose, and provide interventions for difficulties such as learning barriers, emotional regulation, social development concerns, and school-related stress. Our work is holistic and collaborative, often involving parents, teachers, therapists, and other support professionals to create effective support plans tailored to each individual.
While some educational psychologists choose to specialise in a specific age group, many work across the lifespan — from early childhood through adolescence and even into adulthood — depending on their areas of interest and expertise.
To practise as an Educational Psychologist in South Africa, one must complete a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, which includes advanced theoretical and practical training in both psychology and education. This is followed by a full-time internship and successful completion of the national board examination, as required by the HPCSA.
